Process & Turnaround

How does the editing process work?

  1. Getting Started
  1. Email your completed manuscript to the Editor.
  2. The Editor will review the document to ensure it is ready for editing.
  3. If accepted, you’ll receive a quote and an Editor Agreement to sign.
  4. Once the agreement is signed and payment is received, the two-week editing period begins.
  5. If you have a specific deadline, this can be discussed before work begins.
  1. Editing Process
  1. Reference Review – The Editor begins by checking all references and in-text citations for formatting accuracy and consistency.
  2. First Edit – A detailed, line-by-line edit focused on grammar, punctuation, structure, formatting, and flow. Comments that may include hyperlinks are added where clarity or academic strength can be improved.
  3. Second Read-Through – A clean review to confirm accuracy and catch any remaining errors.
  4. Additional Sections – The Editor reviews the Table, Figures, Appendices, and any other content for formatting, consistency, and completeness. The Table of Contents is checked for appropriate formatting, and page numbers are updated.
  5. Template & Rubrics – The Editor reviews any templates or rubrics provided by the Author and ensures that the document aligns with those guidelines.
  6. Feedback Letter – You’ll receive a detailed letter summarizing overall impressions, major issues addressed, and clear next steps for final improvements.
  7. Delivery of Final Materials – You will receive:
    • An edited version with tracked changes
    • A clean version with all edits accepted
    • Your feedback letter and any additional recommended resources
    • A letter for universities or publishers verifying that the document was edited by a professional editor.

How do I submit my document for editing?

Send your document to mandiekf@gmail.com for a quote and more information on editing.

How long will it take to edit my work?

All documents under 250 pages will be returned within 2 weeks, often sooner. Tight deadlines will be considered.

Can you meet tight deadlines?

Yes, as I can. Please mention any tight deadlines immediately!

Will I receive comments or tracked changes?

Yes, every document will be returned as an edited version and a clean version. In the edited version, you will see all tracked changes and comments.

Can I ask follow-up questions after receiving my edits?

Absolutely! I always welcome questions and help clients get their work to the point of publishing.

Pricing & Payment

How is pricing determined?

For large works, pricing is determined by page count. I do not include title or copyright pages in my word count. I also omit blank pages or pages with two lines or fewer of wording.

For smaller works, there is a flat fee.

For non-editing services, the price is determined by the size of the project, the elements it requires, and the timeframe.

Doe you offer quotes before starting?

Yes! I always offer a quote. All you have to do is send me your document. I am fully transparent about the price and how it was determined before the editing process.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept a variety of different payment methods based on location. I offer Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, and bank transfer (UK).

Can I pay in installments?

No. I require to be paid up front before beginning any work. However, I understand that editing can be a big expense, and I am willing to edit smaller sections of work at a time, depending on the quality and type of manuscript.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, I offer a discounted rate to returning editing clients with new documents. This discount is for life!

I do not offer discounts for first-time clients.

Quality & Confidentiality

How do you ensure my work remains confidential?

Your work and personal information are treated with the utmost confidentiality. I never share, distribute, or discuss your documents with anyone else. All files are securely stored in a password-protected folder. As an academic editor, I adhere to strict professional ethics. Your research, ideas, and intellectual property always remain 100% yours.

Do you use AI tools in your editing process?

I use Grammarly (with AI features turned off) and ReciteWorks to help me edit. However, no generative AI tools touch your document, and your document will NOT be uploaded to any AI source.

I use Copilot to find quick links to grammar and formatting rules, which I follow to verify the rules directly from the website (such as the APA7 website). I also use it to find missing DOIs, which I then verify directly on the journal's website.

How do you ensure quality and accuracy?

I ensure the quality and accuracy of my work by:

  • Explaining and leaving links to grammar and formatting rules in the comments of the document.
  • Utilizing any templates or rubrics provided.
  • Providing a detailed list of editing changes and why I made them.
  • Offering a second review.
  • Remaining open to communication for any questions of editing changes post-editing.
